The Hormozgan Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Center (HCTC) was established and launched at the Educational, Medical, and Research Complex of Payambar Azam (PBUH) in Bandar Abbas, with the aim of enhancing the knowledge and CPR skills of healthcare professionals, developing standardized and skill-based training, and promoting a culture of cardiopulmonary resuscitation in Hormozgan Province.
This center operates within the framework of the Iranian Resuscitation Center (IRC) network, benefiting from the experience and scientific support of IRC-FCTC in Shiraz, and is one of the centers developed along the path of forming a national network of standardized CPR training centers in Iran.
The process of establishing the Hormozgan Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Center began on April 26, 2025 with initial visits, assessment of existing capacities, and evaluation of the required infrastructure.
Continuing along this path, with the presence and support of the Deputy of Treatment, the Deputy of Education, and the Deputy of Management and Resources Development of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, and with the support of the University President, the necessary measures for establishing, preparing, and equipping the center were seriously put on the agenda.
The process of preparing and equipping the center was continuously pursued over approximately three months to provide the necessary infrastructure for holding standardized CPR training courses.
Finally, the Hormozgan Standardized CPR Training Center was officially inaugurated on September 30, 2025, and began its educational activities.
After the official inauguration of the center, one of the most important initial programs of IRC-HCTC was holding the "First National Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Festival in Hormozgan Province."
This festival was held intensively from October 19 to October 24, 2025 and marked a milestone in the launch of the center's educational activities.
During this festival, a series of basic and advanced CPR training courses and specialized courses related to resuscitation were held, providing an opportunity for the presence and exchange of experience among professors and instructors in the field of CPR from various provinces.
The establishment of the Hormozgan CPR Training Center is part of the development path of the IRC network – Iranian Resuscitation Center; a path that began with the experience of the Fars Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Center, FCTC, in Shiraz.
The FCTC center began its activities in 2017, focusing on standardized training based on the latest scientific guidelines in the field of CPR, and over the years of its activity, gained significant experience in CPR skills training, instructor training, and designing and delivering standardized courses.
With the expansion of this experience and the formation of the IRC structure, the goal was set that CPR training centers across the country, while benefiting from their own local scientific and educational capacities, would follow a shared and standardized framework.
In this regard, the Hormozgan center, as:
Iranian Resuscitation Center – Hormozgan CPR Training Center
joined the IRC network.
One of the important features in the formation and development of IRC-HCTC has been the close collaboration between Hormozgan professors and instructors and the IRC-FCTC educational team.
In the path of establishing and developing the center's educational activities, Professor Mansour Masjedi from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences and his educational team played an effective role in transferring experience, providing scientific support, and shaping the center's educational activities.
Some of the courses held at IRC-HCTC were conducted with the direct presence of experienced IRC-FCTC professors. Alongside these professors, the capacity of capable professors and instructors from Hormozgan Province was also utilized.
An important point is that a number of Hormozgan instructors had been trained within the IRC-FCTC educational framework before the center's official launch, and were familiar with the principles, standards, and teaching methods of this center.
Thus, IRC-HCTC was formed from the outset on a combination of the scientific support and experience of IRC-FCTC and the capabilities and capacity of local instructors in Hormozgan Province.
This model is one of the fundamental principles of the IRC network: transferring knowledge and experience from experienced centers to regional centers, while simultaneously training and empowering local instructors.
IRC-HCTC, with the aim of providing standardized, up-to-date, and skill-based training, holds various courses in the field of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In the educational programs of this center, courses such as:
have been held.
Training is designed using skill-based and simulation teaching methods, so that learners, in addition to acquiring theoretical knowledge, have the opportunity to practice and evaluate the practical skills needed in real-world situations.
The educational content of the courses is also continuously updated based on reliable scientific sources and the latest international guidelines, particularly the standards of the American Heart Association (AHA).
Continuing the educational activities of IRC-HCTC, during the summer of 2026, in the months of July, August, and September, 13 Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR training courses were held at this center.
These courses were held with the presence of professors from Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, and a total of 312 staff members and healthcare personnel from university and non-university hospitals in Hormozgan Province received training.
Learners in these courses came from various occupational groups and at different organizational and clinical levels; from managers and administrative and support staff to clinical and treatment personnel.
The holding of these courses indicates IRC-HCTC's movement toward creating a continuous and extensive educational capacity in the province and increasing healthcare system staff access to standardized CPR training.
This center has appropriate educational infrastructure for holding theoretical and practical CPR courses and includes:
.
The existence of dedicated space for training and practical workshops has provided the possibility of holding various courses simultaneously and regularly, and practicing resuscitation skills in a standardized educational environment.
One of the main goals of the IRC network is to create broader access to standardized CPR training throughout the country.
IRC-HCTC also operates within this framework and strives to deliver its training based on a shared and standardized approach within the IRC network.
This approach includes emphasis on:
. The goal is that learners, regardless of where they receive training, benefit from a reliable and standardized educational framework.
IRC-HCTC, relying on appropriate educational infrastructure, the support of Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences administrators, the scientific capacity of the province's professors and instructors, and the educational support of IRC-FCTC, pursues the path of developing standardized CPR training in Hormozgan Province.
This center intends to become one of the effective CPR training centers in southern Iran by expanding training courses, training and empowering local instructors, holding scientific and educational programs, and developing CPR training among various groups of the healthcare system.
The establishment of IRC-HCTC can be seen as an example of developing an educational experience from one center to a network; an experience in which knowledge and standards are transferred from the parent center, local capacities are developed, and ultimately a broader network for training life-saving skills is formed.
